Today, I am bushed as Bush for the last time.
I want to set the record straight
before bowing out (disgracefully).
The following quotes have been attributed
(rightfully) to me.
But let me put you in the right context
to appreciate (fully) what I was saying,
not trying to say.
Bushism #1
“They say this issue wouldn’t resignate
(resonate) with the people. They’ve been
proved wrong, it does resignate.”
If the nitpicker here thought it would be correct
to say “resonate with the people,”
he’s more ignorant than he pretends to be.
Resonate can be used (correctly) only as in:
the issues resonate with
so many different consequences.
I would have (correctly) said the issues wouldn’t
resonate among the people.
The statement, however, appeared (so) restrained
in its “resonate” form that the best way
to make it sound convincing and final
is to use “resignate”.
Not in the sense of resignation as in
“I resigned my job”.
Hence, “the issue resignated with the people”
(accurately) describes how the people felt
when they realized the importance of the issue -
they accepted it with resignation.
And what is this (so very) critical condition
that they'll have to live with?
My not being here anymore for them to kick around!
Alright, so the term “resignate” did not exist
in the English dictionary.
Well, now it does!
Bushism #2
“I am a person who recognizes
the fallacy [fallibility] of humans…”
It’s a popular fallacy that we humans are human,
and since we are not
it’s a pathetic fallacy to give human beings
the humane qualities that they do not have.
The issue here is not about humans being fallible,
which is a proven fact,
so let’s not belabor the obvious,
as the critic was doing.
I do indeed recognize
the critic’s fallibility as a wordsmith
and his fallacy in assuming that we are all human.
Bushism #3
“It will take time to restore
chaos and order.”
Do you seriously think that after eight years’
of my administration’s hard work
to create this chaos,
you could match it in a shorter time?
As for order, there was none to speak of
when I took over the Presidency,
so what’s the complaint here?
You can order for order, but my friends,
there ain’t no such item on the menu.
Bushism #4
“The illiteracy (literacy) level
of our children
are (is) appaling (appalling).”
I may have grown up among the same children,
but I am not all that literate (illiterate).
If I were that stupid,
why would people keep quoting my Bushisms?
Just because I invent new words
and give new spin to older words,
it doesn’t make me any more illiterate than …
Anyway, my time are up, not because I has to go
but because the system allow me
only eight year to appal.
I GOT THAT LAST ONE RIGHT, DIDN’T I?

These Bushisms are great, Benj! They bring the man right back to mind...but, as we all know, "The mind is a terrible thing..."
